Volunteering

Since few months I have been moving around Chitwan looking for youths who have a great passion in Social Service and would really like to contribute to the society. I met youths of many organizations, visited Government offices working for Youths and child and met many people who are already running NGOs since long. But it is really disappointing to know the Volunteering Culture in our society.

Yesterday one of my Facebook friend requested me to register him as a member of RHN. I asked him why he wanted to Volunteer? He replied that NGOs have huge money and he will get a chance to go to foreign. "Vai tah ghar mai volunteering gar. Ek din matra mom lai rest garna diyera aafai khana banayera mom lai khuwais vaney ma talai National Volunteering Program kai Volunteer banaidinxu." I told him. He went offline.

Last time I visited Kathmandu, I was surprised to know that there are thousands of NGOs only in Kathmandu. I wonder if there are so many organizations working on social promotion, then what the hell stops our country to be developed.

The local level organization never gets a government project, which actually can be effectively run by them, but INGOs and NGOs who never know the community gets a project to develop that community. Do we have any ANTIBIOTIC against bureaucracy??

Municipality runs a program for child and youth. They don't want to coordinate with Jilla Baal Kalyan Committee. District Youth and Child Organization don't have any program for youth and child. They have a data collected long few long years ago and then they don't know if they have updated it or not.

VOLUNTEERING is not a job. It is not a money-plant. Don't make NGO your family business. Yes, we have many idiots, which run our government, but those who think obligations of poor Nepali is an opportunity to earn, then you deserve to be hanged.
