Campaign 601+1

The earthquake of 25th April, 2015 a black day for Nepal, when 7.8 -magnitude scale tremor jolt Nepal and Nepalese people terribly. It took around 8,648 lives, 30,000 injured, collapsed 5,00,223 houses completely and 2,69,159 houses partially. So we the group of young and energetic youths from different parts of the country have initiated a campaign 601+1 to minimize the pain of the country. After a preliminary relief and rescue work in various EQ affected areas now it is a time for all to work on enduring restoration of our country as well. Thus, 601+1 have set a dedicated team of engineers and volunteers of diverse professions and youth lead organizations to build houses for the disadvantaged group considering people’s safety and public health as we believe it will be a great relief for approaching monsoon and will help to heal their agony to some extent.

‘Action speaks louder than words.’ After a survey by our team we have decided our work to bring into being from a most affected VDC of Dhading District as mentioned below:

More about 601+1

Name suggests itself, this is not the time to put a blame on our government for its slow paced development and relief work. We youth have to rise against this big tragedy because it’s OUR COUNTRY, OUR RESPONSIBILITY. If we do not make it, who else will? “Changing the face changes nothing but facing the change can change everything.” It’s an opportunity to be the change and help our Country to rise again. So let’s not be reliant on others. Let’s be the initiator and rebuild our beautiful country together.

How are “WE” going to work?

Why Salyangkot?

Salyangkot lies on the magnificent height surrounded by surreal beauty. The people of Salyangkot have always treated guests as God. But 7.8 EQ in Nepal proved to be a blue curse for Salyangkot. Now it is our turn to return generosity to them. They await relief in all forms so it’s time to initiate our efforts to restore the grace of Nepal.

We aim to build the TLCs for schools which has been completely damaged. Aaginchowk School of Salyangkot has more than 635 students who are now deprived of a quality education and are throbbed psychologically to stay under threat. We aim to provide feasible toilet to the villagers in view of a public health into consideration.
According to our survey, second big tremor caused most damages in Salyangkot VDC and people of this area are economically and socially backward. It has also an underprivileged ‘dalit’ society with very poor economic condition. With our disaster management team we tend to motivate them and provide them minimum shelter so that they could escape from approaching monsoon and built toilets for them considering possible epidemic hazards.

Estimated Budget for 10 TLCs and 20 Pit Latrine:
Transportation: 70,000 NRS
Logistic: 10,000 NRS
Toilet Building: 1, 30,000 NRS
School Building: 3, 59,950 NRS
